ATTORNEY — Mr. WONIL CHUNG
Mr. Wonil Chung, a Korean-licensed attorney at Chung & Partners and the editor-in-chief of this website, has been practicing law since 2003. Prior to joining Chung & Partners, he practiced at one of Korea’s leading international law firms.
He received his B.A. in law (LL.B.) from Seoul National University (College of Law) and graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of South Korea. He also holds an LL.M. from UCLA School of Law (University of California, Los Angeles), where he studied U.S. law.
He has worked in diverse fields, with special emphasis in corporate law, financing, and intellectual property. He also has extensive experience in advising and representing non-Korean clients on various issues involving Korean law such as international franchising and licensing, foreign investment, incorporation, labor, family law, and related civil/criminal litigations.
He has advised and represented clients including multinational financial institutions, global corporations, and foreign individuals across a wide range of industries, including Citi Bank, Merrill Lynch, Lone Star Fund, Marks & Spencer, Petronas, Shell, Samsung Corporation, Korea Telecom, Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS), and many others.
He is a registered member of the Korean Bar Association (registration number: 07332) and the Seoul Bar Association.
